The full tale

There's Josie On-Her-Ownsie—that's her name, And for everything, her answer is the same: "Myself! Myself! Myself!" Miss High-and-Mighty herself! She always knows best, you see, She'll do it all herself—"Let me!" Her school, her books, her mom? Oh, please! She says, "Myself! I don't need these!" She's swallowed up wisdom, every bite— So what's a brain for? She's always right! Learning? No, thanks. And what's it for, When she knows everything—and more?

But just try asking Josie: "How much is two and two?" "Eight!" "And who was Copernicus?" "A king!" "And what do hens lay?" "A ring!" "And where is Krakow?" "On the Nile!" "And is learning worthwhile?" "Not worthwhile!"

"'Cause I know it all myself, you see, And I eat my breakfast myself—just me, And I'll build a car all on my own, And I can handle it all alone! Who'd want to study, and ask, and look, And find things out, and read a book? Who'd want to rack their brain? Not me! I can do it myself! Myself! You'll see!" "So you're so smart—all by yourself? And who's the fool, then?" "Me! Myself!"
