The full tale
The alphabet fell off the stove, It hit the floor with a thump, It scattered into all the corners, And every letter got a bump: I lost its dot and began to cry, Y sat beside it, asking, "Why?" H snapped its bridge and cried, "Boo-hoo!" B bumped both tummies, one and two. D bumped its belly—what a smack! A sprained both legs and fell flat on its back. O burst like a balloon—POP! And P jumped up with a frightened hop. T lost its hat—it fell off, plop! L jumped in U, like a spoon in a cup, S got such a fright that it straightened right up, R broke its right leg—now it looks like P! C bumped its head, and it couldn't see, E lost its bottom shelf in the fall, And now it's an F—not an E at all! And W stood on its head, And now it says it's M instead!
