The full tale
Mr. Hilary runs with a cry of dismay: "Where are my glasses? Have they wandered away?"
He looks in his pants and he looks in his jacket, In the right shoe, the left shoe—what a racket!
He's tossed everything in the closets about, He pats down his bathrobe, his coat—then a shout:
"A scandal!" he cries. "It's beyond belief! Somebody's stolen my glasses! A thief!"
Under the couch, and on top of the couch, He searches, he snorts, and he puffs like a grouch!
He looks in the stove, and he looks up the flue, In the mousehole, inside the piano, too!
Now he's ready to rip up the boards from the floor, Now he's calling the police—he can't take any more!
Then suddenly—a glance in the mirror—and, oh! He can't believe it… One more look… Can it be so?
He found them! They're here! And now everyone knows: They were there all along—on his very own nose!
